During your 3rd to 4th years, you will already focus on clinical studies, working closely with animals and research projects.

You also have to pass the licensing exams given to you. This test is very important before earning a license and to have the chance to practice medicine. There are also some additional exams given to you depending on the state where you are located. Mostly, this exam is called board and the term is used for nurses and even doctors exam.

You also have to consider internship years before you find a permanent position. This way, you have the chance to specialize in surgery or medicine. Your school will also help you to pinpoint the right path for you. So, whatever it is, find someone who will be your mentor.
