Earthquakes may come in unexpected situations. That is why it is important for us to be prepared in some dangerous things that might happen. Aside from that, we are not the only one that needs to prepared, but also establishments.

Yes, you heard it right. Buildings should be prepared as well. There are organizations that ensure every building being built should withstand an earthquake. By doing this, the people that are in that specific establishment will be safe. OSHPD OSP is one of the programs that will ensure that every hospitals and health establishment can withstand earthquakes. This is vital and this is the reason why most hospitals these days are required to get an OSP certification.

Our topic for today is not all about these certified buildings, but how you can prevent yourself in these disastrous situation. Some buildings might be built to withstand the force of nature. However, it does not mean that it is full proof. Knowing this, it is still better to be prepared.

First is, you need to have a water with you. Food is important, however water is far more important. Before you head on and work, be sure a jug of water is already prepared in your side. You do not necessarily need a bunch of it, just a couple of it and you will be fine.

It does not mean, that food is not essential, you still need to bring some of it. This will supply you the energy you need to keep you going. Carbohydrates can provide energy, that is why sandwiches are the best food you can pack. Aside from that, they are delicious and portable too.

You should also bring some flash flights. Most phones these days already have this feature, so this should not be too necessary. However, the good thing about bringing a flash flight is that it can last for several hours compared to a phone. On top of that, the light is brighter as well.

If you are working, a USB is very essential. In that way, you can save your important files in a portable device. However, if the shakes are extremely dangerous, then just leave your computer and save your life. Your documents might be important, but your life is much more essential compared to it.

If you are a patient in a hospital, an excellent place to cover up with the debris that might fall is under your bed. This is very important, especially if you are too weak to run around. All you have to do is hide in it, and wait for rescuers to help you.

There are still some other things you can do, however these are the most important ones. Keep in mind that it is always a good decision to be prepared. Knowing these things, you should already have an idea on what you need to do if this happens. You do not have to worry too much as long as the hospital you are in is OSP accredited.
