Reasons For Police Car Partition

By Leticia Jensen

When police car partition is mentioned deferment people may have different interpretation but its actual meaning is the subdivision of the police car into various sections. The vehicles usually have four sections while others have even more. There are various reasoned that called for this decision and its implementation has been a success. It has been adopted by various departments in almost all parts of the world. There is also the possibility that in the future it will be almost one hundred percent.

One of the sections that most of their cars have is the trunk which other public and privately owned vehicles also have. There is a difference though when it comes to the use. In most cases the trunk is like a safe whereby the investigation evidence is kept in all the operations. Given that they always carry out investigations, their cars need trunks to facilitate this as well as to ensure that the evidence is not tampered with.

Some cars have sections for the police dogs. This is mostly for the department that does investigation as well as those that handle criminals. There is no point in time that the dogs will share a car partition with the police who accompany them. This therefore calls for an extra cabin in these vehicles for the dogs. The cabin is designed to suit its purpose.

The subdivision is required in most cases where their dogs are part of the mission undertaken by police. The dogs are assets and need to be protected. They are mostly kept in their cages that are a different compartment from the officers. The reason is their security as well as to avoid accidents to the officers.

One very important reason for partitions is because of the amount of cargo that these vehicles always carry. There are various tools that the officers need for their smooth operation and need to be kept in a different section from the passengers. The guns and bullets are examples of these types of equipment. They are kept in a tool box in the cargo cabinet for easy access.

It has been incorporate and implemented in most countries and is proving to be a life saver not only to the officers themselves but also to the common citizens. It increases the willingness of some officers to the call of duty given that their security is improved.

The compartments in the vehicles are separated by either steel bars or glass. For glass it can be either tinted glass or bullet proof glass depending on the level of security required in the particular compartment. Taking the drivers seat for example, it is separated from the passengers compartment using bullet proof glass because some officers had lost their lives as a result of shooting from behind the vehicle.

The subdivision of these vehicles is very beneficial because in the early years there was need for more than one vehicle in any operation. The different vehicles were there to serve various purposes which at the moment are solved through partitioning of one car. The challenge has been resolved through innovation and creativity of some companies which introduced the idea.
