Buy Beats & Learn How To Make It As A Rapper

By Adam Galloway

To start your journey as a musician, rapper, singer, ect. you must first develop your online social media presence by creating content-filled & organized pages. After this, begin to build your network of fans. Post your music on these social media sites, along with a bio and some photo's, then start marketing!

Collaborate with other artists similar in your style, whether it's someone you know or someone online. If you Google "collaborate musicians" or similar searches, many sites that make this easy will show up. Collaborating is a great way to connect with more people in your niche as a rapper.

It's fun to say something that might strike some chords in others! So do this with your music, promotion, and blog posts. It might sound weird, but it will get you attention, and even if some people disagree, the ones that agree will be even more supportive and even back you up! So be controversial occasionally to stir the pot.

Get on Youtube with your face, music, and other random stuff that could possibly go viral. Youtube is HUGE, and considering a lot of people have a camera (even if it's on your phone), you can record anything anytime, and post it anytime. Take advantage of video blogging, song/mixtape promotion, and a lot more. You can release your whole mix tape for free as one video depending on the length and promote it like crazy. Radiohead did that "free download or donate" marketing strategy, so why not give your stuff away for free for a bit, which will definitely get you many targeted fans!

In case you are into playing living, contact venue promoters locally (look up your city and venues, then ask for info from each). Try to book as many shows as possible. Advertise these simply by finding venue marketers who know how to advertise their shows. Meaning a lot of shows are sold out!

Before you think about sending your mix tape demo, give the recipient a call (that way when they get it, they'll remember your phone call and be more inclined to listen).

Create your unique brand, logo, name, what you stand for, and most importantly, a personal website. I cannot stress this enough if you want to be considered legitimate. Social media and live shows are all great, but you need to be able to give someone a legit website to go to if they ask. Go to Weebly.com and get a free account/hosting (get your domain there or cheaper elsewhere). You can't send someone to a Facebook page if you're looking to be a legit player in this business.

Now it's time to get business cards! Vistaprint is the best for that from my experience. Best prices and great quality and quantity! These are great to have when you're around people that could be potential fans or customers of your CD.

Find yourself, write down a plan, put that plan into action. Sometimes planning is the longest part but doing it right the first time is important, rather than rushing out there to market yourself when you're not ready and comfortable with yourself. You will be interviewed and need to be able to answer questions. Don't get nervous about this though, as long as this is your passion, spending time planning your future as a rapper or musician is nothing at all, and sometimes even fun!
